Responsibilities include: The successful candidate will take responsibly for the metallurgical operation at Barrick Gold of North America mine sites to include assigned duties that require Metallurgical assistance, management or guidance. The candidate will also be involved with the day-to-day safe production, plant improvements & economic development, instrumentation, quality control and trouble shooting problems. The candidate must possess leadership skills and capabilities demonstrating a willingness to provide coaching and enhancement of team play through fulltime participation in Barrick programs. The Candidate must be able to work closely with production, maintenance supervision and outside departments to ensure environmental compliance and safe functionality of plant operation and maintaining of equipment. The candidate must be able to direct, train and evaluate skills of subordinates and providing coaching for development. SELECTION CRITERIA

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: To be considered for this job, applicants must meet these basic requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Minerals/Chemical Engineering or equivalent Process related degrees required.

· Minimum five to ten (5-10) years experience in Metallurgical Operations, Engineering and/or Laboratory environment preferred.

· Knowledge of the principles & methods used in complex metallurgical and processing analysis, hands on practical application and process optimization is highly preferred.

· Able to research, analyze information and draw conclusions, and take action to resolve operational, environmental issues, permit compliance and problem resolution from an operating plant status required.

· Proficiency in multiple software applications and network platforms required.

· Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required.

· Supervisory experience preferred.

· Ability to work and construct a team environment that creates and enhances the Barrick vision through understanding and capture of future opportunities required.

· Demonstrated ability to perform essential functions of position required.

Albian Sands is a part of the Athabasca Oil Sands Project (AOSP). The AOSP is a joint venture among Shell Canada Limited (60 %), Chevron Canada Limited (20%) and Marathon Oil Sands L.P (20%). The AOSP consists of the Muskeg River Mine north of Fort McMurray, the Scotford Upgrader near Edmonton and all supporting facilities such as pipelines and a cogeneration plant. As majority owner, Shell is the overall project administrator as well as operator of the Scotford Upgrader. Albian Sands Energy Inc., a company created by the joint venture, operates the Muskeg River Mine. As majority owner, Shell is responsible for the staffing and recruitment of Albian Sands.

Albian Sands is currently seeking a Pipefitter

Responsibilities:

* The Pipe Fitter can be assigned work through out the site that will consist of routine and emergency repairs and maintenance on all of the equipment.
* Layout, assemble, fabricate, maintain and repair piping systems which carry water, steam, chemicals or fuel used in heating, cooling, lubricating and other processes.
* Study blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine the type of pipe and tools to use, and lay out the sequence of tasks
* Remove and replace worn components, do general maintenance work and may work on plant shut-downs.
* This position will also assist other trades and operations where needed and safe to do so.


Requirements:

* Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
* Journeyman red seal certificate in Pipefitting
* 5 years experience working in a mineral or chemical processing environment.
* Strong maintenance foundation including sound technical knowledge of piping, and pumping
* Experience with blueprint reading and piping schematics
* Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a self-motivated member of a flexible team with minimal supervision
* Some computer skills required.
* Good organizational skills
* Ability to execute mechanical system maintenance by following “best practices” for a skilled Pipefitter
* Ability to asses maintenance activities to ensure that the work is planned and completed in a safe manner
* Ability to conceive innovative and cost effective solutions to problems
* Dedication to safe work and environmental responsibility
* Must be able to work in hot humid conditions requiring access to work locations by stairs and ladders. As well this position will require the ability to work at heights of up to 80 ft and out door winter conditions.

This position is responsible for coal preparation engineering duties in the clean coal organization in support of mine operations to ensure maximum quality and productivity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. In this position, either directly or through others, the incumbent:
• Perform basic engineering tasks of design, evaluation, problem solving, analysis, and planning to support mine site operations.
• Comply with safety policy and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
• Interface with engineering staff, mine site operations groups, mine site maintenance groups and other TXU personnel to ensure consistent, practical, and effective engineering solutions.
• Participate in special projects and committee assignments as requested.
• Coordinate washability analyses of lignite as indication of density separation potential
• Work with supervisor and operations of dry separation facilities to increase production and quality improvements
• Perform data analysis and appropriate reports to communicate performance of cleaning facilities to site management
• Daily interaction with mine site operations to ensure best practices are being implemented in the field to deliver quality lignite
• Sampling coordination for and oversight of fuel quality special projects as they arise
• Interaction with site and long-term mine planning and geological groups to maximize cleaning of current deposits as well as review cleaning potential of future deposits
• Oversight of laboratory to enforce QA/QC and turnaround times outlined in contracts
• Provide professional engineering certification of designs and analysis as required (Sr. Position only).

Qualifications:
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
Minimal background and knowledge requirements:
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
• Knowledge of mining methods and regulatory requirements.
• 5-10 years of coal preparation experience
• Utilizes analysis and problem solving skills to complete required tasks.
• Ability to use database, spreadsheet, word processing, and CAD software.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and Project
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Professional Engineering license in Texas required to be considered for Sr Engineer position.
• Extensive analysis and problem solving skills to complete multiple projects incorporating teamwork and consensus resolution.
• Experience in dry cleaning techniques and technologies a plus.
